Adult examinations include:

1. Vision Health evaluation

• External and internal exam of the eye to rule out or diagnose any abnormal conditions including cataracts, retinal detachments and degenerative and many other conditions.
• Papillary reflexes
• Eye muscle assessment and movement
• Biomicroscopy
• Side vision test
• Glaucoma test

2. Refractive evaluation

• Visual acuity with and without old glasses
• Subjective refraction and focusing functions
• Measurement of the cornea curvature

3. Binocular function

• Depth perception
• Phorias - Alignment of both eyes
• Vergence
• Cover test

4. Diagnosis and Treatment plan

CHILDREN'S VISION

A large portion of our practice is equipped for the specific needs of children. We routinely examine youngsters after their third birthday and recommend subsequent annual examinations to monitor their developmental progress.

Early examination is important to detect amblyopia, more commonly referred to as Lazy eye. Experts have estimated to detect that 80% of what youngsters learn comes to them through their vision.

Thus, it is very important that their vision be examined regularly to ensure, not just clear sight but maximum efficiency of visual processing.

Children's examinations include:

1. Vision Health evaluation

• Near Vision: Ability to see clearly and comfortable at 13-16 inches, the distance at which school desk work should be done.
• Distance Vision: Ability to see clearly and comfortably at ten feet or more

2. Eye Coordination

• Binocular Coordination: Ability to use both eyes together
• Eye Movement Skills: Ability to aim the eyes accurately, move them smoothly across a page and quickly and accurately from one object to another.
• Peripheral Awareness: Ability to be aware of things to the side while looking straight ahead.
• Eye/Hand Coordination: Ability to use the eyes and hands together. If any of these or other vision skills is lacking or not functioning properly, your child's eyes have to work harder. This can lead to headaches, fatigue and other eyestrain symptoms.

CONTACT LENSES

Our contact lens room is set up to handle all of your contact lens needs. We offer conventional soft lenses and gas permeable firm lenses. We also fit toric lenses for astigmatism, and we offer extended wear lenses that you may sleep in. We even offer cosmetically tinted soft lens to change or enhance your natural eye color. We fit bifocal contact lenses as well as monovision - a bifocal alternative.

Our broad range of experience makes us especially qualified to handle your contact lens needs even if you were not originally fitted in our office. We have an extensive in-stock supply of contacts.
